Summer's End: A steamy ex-military small-town Western romance (The Summer Series Book 1) Kindle Edition
When cowgirl Molly and veteran Bart meet, their chemistry is undeniable.
But can they make it work without burning each other in the process?
For retired rodeo cowgirl Molly McGuire, life is all about her animals. She’s spent her life around them, and there’s nothing that brings her more joy than being with her horse, Jo, and pet German Shephard, Shadow.
When Molly inherits Summer’s End, a fishing resort with plenty of room for her and her animals, she’s ready to settle into her life alone, but fulfilled.
Then Bart McKinnon walks into her life. Ex-military, Bart’s years in active combat have left him with demons he tries hard to hide from the world.
When Molly and Bart meet, they are instantly drawn to one another, and the heat rises.
But what starts as a fling quickly becomes complicated. The more time Molly spends with Bart, the more she feels for him, but the more questions she has. Where does he live? How does he earn his living? Is she just action on the side or more than that?
Can Molly help him fight his demons or will Bart’s PTSD prevent him from living his life to the full? Together, can they create a future at Summer’s End?
If you like steamy Western romance with plenty of heat and a guaranteed HEA, don’t miss Summer’s End! This book can be read alone or as part of the Summer series by Kris Kassady.

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 15 March 2022Format: Kindle EditionA full length romance story about a retired rodeo cowgirl and a mysterious mountain man brought together by their dogs. Can their fling turn into something real.
The story is well written and the PTSD element is covered with respect.
This is the 2nd in the summer series.
I enjoyed this book and would recommend reading it.. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 15 May 2022Format: Kindle EditionSummers End is the second book in the Summer Series, and like the first, this made my temperature rise and my heart rate increase. Although this is classified as an exotic read, this is not offensive and is written incredibly well to appeal to all. Kris Kassady is becoming my go-to for a racy read!
This sensual romance tells the story of cowgirl Molly who is running the family business, a fishing resort at Summer Lake. It is here that she meets Bart, thanks to their dogs. Together, they begin a very casual “relationship” (although I use the term loosely.) However, the more time that Molly spends with Bart, the more questions she has about this enigmatic man.
Kris Kassady reels the reader in from the beginning and keeps them engaged by the anticipation and hope that her characters get themselves sorted and communicate their feelings to each other. There is a complex mental health element weaved within this story and I must give praise to this author for handling it well and writing this in such a sensitive manner.
As per the first book of this series, I highly recommend this to anyone who likes a bit of spice in their books and although this is the second part of the series it can be read as a standalone. Summer Ends is available now and a must-read for all fans of this genre.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 26 April 2022Format: Kindle EditionThe second in the 'summers' series and a much better read than the first! The first wasn't bad but had me cringing often whereas this felt much more real (which seems strange when you take into account Bart and where he lives...)
I loved the animals, all of them! I found the aspects regarding the horses and Molly's history as a barrel racer fascinating. It wasn't something I knew anything about before but this made me want to find out more.
The setting was fab, I'd love to stay at Summer's End!
Really fun side characters who were clearly a great family to Molly.
My only negative, and it's a strange one for me because generally I love a spicy story, but this didn't need all the sex. The story carried itself well and could have easily been a closed door romance and detracted nothing from the plot.
I liked that it tackled a tougher subject with Bart's PTSD and think this could have been developed further.
I read it in just over a day and enjoyed it. I'm glad I gave the author another chance.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 19 May 2022Format: Kindle EditionThis is my first book by Kris Kassady and i really enjoyed it. Summer’s End is the second book of the series and can be read as a standalone book. I found the characters easy to like, loved the way the relationship built with Bart and Molly.
If you like a bit of loving and spice in your books then your definitely going to want to read this book (there’s a lot of it!). I will be reading the first book and looking at Kris’s other books. I really enjoyed the way the story flowed and developed over the book. Characters had good background development.

5.0 out of 5 stars Summer”s End
Format: Kindle EditionVerified PurchaseI was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed this book. I was not sure when first started reading but I changed my mind real quick. Once I started I didn’t want to stop reading. I was hooked and definitely enjoyed this book and thanks to the author for making the reader feel like you are right there with the characters in the book. My Wife and I had the privilege of visiting Seattle a number of years ago for the National Jaycee Convention and we loved our visit and hated to see out week there end.

1.0 out of 5 stars Gave up at 36% ...
Format: Kindle EditionVerified PurchaseWhile I very much love reading and will often muddle through some poor editing to give a full honest review ... I simply had to stop reading this one. There was zero flow. The wording is off kilter. The leading lady, Molly, using the term 'my place' for her cl!torus or 'hard bits' for stiff nips...multiple times...why? There's nothing wrong with saying the actual words or using some slang...but this felt more like the author just didn't want to say it. Although she had no trouble saying (multiple times) that Molly 'jumped from cowboy to cowboy' implying she slept around, alot! Also, even in the 36% that I read to there was some other unnecessary repetition. The one redeeming thing this story had going was bringing PTSD to light and the author did seem to be on the right track. The leading man, Bart, was diagnosed with PTSD after six years in the Army. That just wasn't enough to keep me reading.
