Brilliant book
5 out of 5 stars
Brilliant book
This is such a unique book , I find sometimes storylines can be very similar but this was so unusual . Alice the main character has a rare condition, synesthesia which means she sees colours around people depending on their mood. She first discovers she has the condition when she is only eight and struggles accepting the fact she is different. Her early childhood was traumatic and at times difficult to read but I loved how Alice found her inner strength. It took me a while to get into this sophisticated story but as I continued to read I began to understand the multi layers of the story line and I was cheering for Alice and hoping she would find happiness after all the struggles she had endured. I can only imagine how it would feel to associate everyone I met with a specific colour and to have the ability to feel their mood and intentions. A blessing and curse in equal measure! Personally I found the second part of the book making me page turn , I loved getting to know about Alice’s life and applaud Cecelia Ahern for such a unique, spellbinding story which will stay in my mind for a while.

What an amazing, complex, compelling sometimes confusing read this was. It absolutely gripped me, even though at times I didn't enjoy it, and wouldn't let me go. It is certainly a force to be reckoned with, not unlike the central character of the story. It's one of those books which linger in my sub conscious for quite a while, I know that.

I really loved and enjoyed this book. Couldn't put it down. It made me ponder my own colors and reflect on what I am sending out to the people around me. It helped me to see plants and trees with new awareness. I also kill plants unfortunately. This book brings new understanding to the saying, "The light in me bows to the light in you."
